Eikund – 3rd November 2021
Mental Health for Youth Auction
Eikund x Whatson
Talking about sustainability we want to highlight one of the issues that is sometimes overlooked as a part of the sustainability term. An issue that is very important to us. Yes, we care about nature, and we care about our value chain, but we also care about people. We feel strongly that to be able to do good in the world you need to feel good about yourself.
We are donating the proceeds from 5 limited edition Isbjørn figures
from one of our most popular collabs: Eikund x Whatson. The auctions will be held in a sequential order, starting with Isbjørn Green and Isbjørn Pink. Each auction will last 7 days.
The last auction will soon be announced.
“We wanted to donate the money to Mental Health for Youth because we all feel the importance of their work. The social responsibility connected to sustainability is a topic that deserves more attention, and mental health is an important part of that.”
– says Jørgen Tengesdal, CEO and co-founder of Eikund.
There’s a lot of reasons why young people struggle today. We know that it’s complex, and that there’s no one cure to fix it all. However, with this auction we want to encourage people to talk more openly about mental health. Mental health is not only for someone struggling. Mental health concerns us all and affects most of us some way or another throughout life.
“If mental health is put on the agenda and it helps to improve the situation for young people, that will benefit every part of the society”
– says artist Martin Whatson
Jørgen agrees; “I think what happens a lot is that people wait for the crisis to happen before dealing with it. When it comes to mental health it’s about taking conscious decisions every day and working on it when you have the energy rather than when you’re at the bottom”, says Jørgen.
“It’s easy to feel very alone with big feelings. But if you open up and talk to people you might be surprised by how many that are actually struggling with something and that can relate”
– says Jørgen Tengesdal
“50% of the population will experience mental health issues some time during their lives. We need to normalize talking about mental health, to be able to reach all of those people.”, Says Line Toft, communication manager at Mental Health for Youth.
The money donated from this auction will go directly to different offers supporting children and young people struggling with mental health. Like the Help Chat and other different meeting points.
