The corrugated packaging, we use at Eikund is a good example of circular economy. This paper product is 100% recyclable, based on 100% renewable energy sources (sustainable managed forests) and it is also 100% biodegradable.
More than 90% of the total amount of used corrugated cardboard in Scandinavia is collected and used again and again, as a raw material in new production.
Our packaging provides proper protection during transport with a minimum amount of material. The packaging solution is continually assessed and revised to take advantage of newer and more environmentally friendly options. Our transport logistics works in such a way that every truck which collect products from us, continues to other nearby manufacturers until its full. Rail transport is used when achievable, while overseas transport is handled mainly by ship, and only in exceptional occasions by air freight. Special transports are avoided if possible.
